OCTOBER DATE CHANGE

Due to unforesceen circumstances, the October Race Meet date has changed to the 31st October.

WET AND WILD KOSTERA CUP!

The forecast did not look great for open wheeled cars on Sunday who were heading out for the Kostera Cup. The question of the day would be "will it be slicks, or will it be wets?" Thankfully, for most of the day, the weather ensured that question was answered with definite wet tyres. Lisle proved strong even in the wet qualifying on poll.

Race 1 saw Burns and Schutte stuck behind a radical in the esses letting Lisle gain a lead in some rough conditions.

Race 2 saw the clouds open with some wild weather just before we were set for the dummy grid. Lisle set the strong pace until a safety car was pulled out due to Schutte unfortunately sliding into the wall sideways. In the final few laps to the finish Burns proved strong and tried a last lap, last corner move on Lisle. Lisle proved strong and held his first place position.

Race 3, if we could only have intermediate tyres, the cars would have been strong! Wet's were set for everyone and thankfully, it continued to drizzle helping those tyres not over heat. Burns held close to Lisle seeing him make a great over taking move in lap 1. With 9 laps to go, Burns held strong and kept Lisle behind.

Congratulations to all drivers in a crazy, wild weather. Lisle brought it home and took out the Kostera Cup followed by Burns and Bergic.

WE ARE BACK!

After a long break from racing, we were all very excited to get our state championship back on track and go racing for the second time this year. Luckily we only missed one race leaving our year with only 5 races this year.

COVID-19 definitely affected our strong field with only 7 cars fronting for the day. There were still some great battles and with no rain, it was going to be a beautiful day!

Qualifying saw Adam Lisle fly to complete the fastest lap of 0.56.0425 and take pole position for race 1 with Burns only 0.6 seconds behind. The field was very close and would prove some great racing throughout the day.

Race 1 saw Lisle take a strong lead against the rest of the field and take 1st from Burns and Folwell. Race 2 saw Folwell pull off just before the start finish line and unable to start the race. Lisle proved strong with Burns staying close until the last few races with tyres going off. The final race saw Folwell back and gaining 4 spots before the first corner. Lisle proved strong throughout the whole day.

Lisle took 3 from 3 followed by Burns and Bergic.

2020 OFF TO A FLYING START!

What a beautiful day to start our 2020 season off to. With all drivers excited and ready to go racing qualifying was off to a flying start with all drivers very close in times. New comers Max McRae and Gianni Lutzu showing their strength with qualifying 2nd and 4th respectively. Jordan Oon proved his experience within the car with a strong first place.

Race 1 saw a lap 1 incident with Folwell and a Radical Driver seeing a 3 lap sprint to the chequered flag. Jordan Oon proved strong with Max McRae standing strong until engine troubles saw him slowing pulling into the pits.

Arise Mechanics worked hard to get both McRae and Folwell out for Race 2 both rear of grid. McRae showed how quick his car can go moving through the grid to get 4th spot. Jordan Oon had a steady lead in front with Epple and Lutzu fighting for 2nd and 3rd throughout the race.

Oon was well on his way to take 3 from 3 with Lutzu, Epple and McRae closely behind. Unfortunately Burns was unable to make it past pit lane exit with suspected Diff issues. There was some great battles for 2nd spot with McRae taking it in lap 7 from Lutzu. Lap 3 saw a collision with Folwell and Radical sending him slightly airborn. Luckily he was able to get going and complete the race.

Jordan Oon took 3 from 3 followed by Lutzu and Epple.

KOSTERA TAKES OUT THE KOSTERA CUP

With a very cold start to the morning qualifying saw very close times between all F1000's. Stuart Kostera Jnr held strong and took lead place. Race 1 saw some great close racing with Stuart Kostera Jnr and Adam Lisle racing to take that first position. Stuart Kostera Jnr broke away and took out race 1.

Race 2 saw a reverse top 6 off qualifying times which saw Mike Folwell on pole position and seeing both Stuart Kostera Jnr and Adam Lisle moving through the grid to gain the most points for Race 3. The first lap saw Mike Folwell go back into 9th position with some car issues which gave Stuart Kostera Jnr and Adam Lisle an opportunity to fight for 1st and 2nd position. Stuart Kostera Jnr held strong and took out race 2.

Race 3, Stuart Kostera Jnr on pole and well on his way to taking out the Kostera Cup. Halfway through lap 1 saw a crash, lots of sand and cars trying to avoid the incident between Stewart Burns and Madeline Stewart. A red flag saw the cars lining back up in pit lane with Stewart Burns having to retire his car, full restart and a fight for 1st spot was still up for grabs. Stuart Kostera Jnr held strong and maintained the lead to take 3 from 3 and the Kostera Cup for 2019 with an on track presentation to follow.

NICK PERCAT FLIES!

Our July race meet provided great excitement and speed where we saw not only Supercars Driver Nick Percat jump into an F1000, but our lap record held by Alex Barboutis drop faster and faster.

Qualifying provided some great insight into what the day had in store for us with the lap record being broken 7 times by Nick Percat, Adam Lisle and Stuart Kostera Jnr before a fastest time of 0:53.2786 being set. The challenge was set for all drivers to see if these times can be replicated in Race 1 and turn into the new lap record.

Race 1 proved strong with the current lap record being broken 13 times. Nick Percat was stronger and stronger with setting an impressive 0:53.0792 being set as our new lap record. Now that will be hard to beat!

Nick Percat took out the race meet followed by Adam Lisle and Stuart Kostera Jnr. It was great to have him in an F1000 and awesome to show him how great our category is.

WET, WET, WET!

What a June race meet to remember! The controversial decision of wets or drys provided both an advantage and disadvantage to all drivers. Qualifying proved very difficult in the wet conditions with Jordan Oon taking a dip into the mud at turn 1, unable to get out! Thanks to the WASCC volunteers to help him get out of the sticky situation and ready for race 1.

Race 2 saw the sun come out for a brief period and everyone aiming to gain some valuable points before the rain came. 6 laps in the race come to a halt due to Madeline Stewart's F1000 bursting into flames prior to the start finish line. Red flag and thank fully no one was hurt.

The last race for the day and the sun looked like it was going to stay. The Green lights went for the start of the race and then the rain poured. Not good for the drivers in slick tyres, it was going to be slippery!

Congratulations to Jordan Oon on taking out the meet followed by Adam Lisle and Stewart Burns. We hope the rain will stay away next meet!
